ABOUT US
CrashCart Pet Haven was founded by Tim Marzullo and Andrew Printer in 2026. It was inspired by Crash, a beloved dog whose place in Tim’s life revealed how deeply people struggling with addiction can depend on a pet’s unconditional love.

Our Story
Andrew and Tim have been together since 2000. A house full of animals has always been part of our story. Drugs were part of it too. In 2014, after six years of sobriety, we moved from San Diego to Key West with five pets in search of adventure.
Instead, we relapsed.
Three years later, we moved to Indianapolis to care for Tim’s mother. By then, addiction had taken a toll on our health, finances, and relationship. Tim returned to California with the animals. Andrew stayed behind—we both kept using.
Andrew returned home in 2022 and entered rehab a few months later. By then, a car accident had left Tim in chronic pain, and our home had become hoarded. Almost everything good and familiar was gone.
Everything except Crash.
Crash, an aging chihuahua, stayed by Tim’s side through it all.
A year later, Andrew gave Tim an ultimatum: get help or divorce. Tim wanted to stop using, but couldn’t imagine being without Crash for three months. He asked the clinical director whether he could bring him. The answer was no.
For many people struggling with addiction, this is an impossible choice: focus on recovery or remain with the animal that depends on you—and may be the only thing you still depend on.
The day after Tim learned a bed was available, Crash died suddenly in his arms. He entered rehab the following week.
Around the same time, someone at one of Andrew’s outpatient meetings asked whether anyone could foster his dogs while he entered treatment. He couldn’t go otherwise. Recognizing the bind Tim had been in, Andrew said yes.
Marilyn arrived a few days later, becoming the first pet in our care.
Word spread quickly. What began as a favor soon revealed a need far greater than we imagined: people delay getting help because they cannot bear to leave behind the one relationship they still trust. At the same time, those animals may be living with instability, anxiety, neglect, or unmet medical needs.
Our goal is simple: preserve this vital human-animal bond. While people focus on recovery, we provide safety, routine, and care for the pets waiting for them to come home.
